Feeding Time

The kites were fed twice a day on a diet of day old chicks, mice and the occasional rat.

Notice the reaction of the kites as I enter the pen. The younger ones lie down straight away. The older kites are becoming much more vocal. At this stage, the food is thrown onto the platforms, rather than gently placed! This ensures the interaction is kept to a minimum, and lessons the chance of a kite flying towards me or into the sides of the pen, risking being hurt!
