The recordings were taken during late afternoon, in woodland. Approximately 20-30 kites were present. Some of the birds were close by and were calling to others perched in trees at a distance of approx. 200/250ft.

The relative sound level of the aircraft flying overhead heard in file 2 gives an indication of just how loud the call of the kites can be, when up close to them!
